A Maasai wiseman once said to me..

"Beauty comes after love !"

He was referring to his cows at the time, but in one of those rare moments of clarety (of the full-bodied darker kind), I understood this to mean:

Life is what You make it !
You make your own reality !
Happiness is where You find it !
Happiness is Living !
Happiness brings Success !
Be Yourself !

And now I truly understand the most important point...

"Beauty is in the beholden !"

If you believe you're beautiful, then you are.


Life is... and then you die. So be happy.

i'm just being honest, i think everyone is beautiful in their own way, but for me i think a man should be at least decent looking with a good personality

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder.

I chuckle because it's usually the younger folks that always put in looks as a factor when they judge beauty.

There are women who look like Janet Jackson, or J-Lo and are ugly as hell because they are arrogant, conceited, vain, shallow, rude, inconsiderate, on and on.

When considering a relationship, one has to remember that you MUST spend a lot of time with that potential significant other. So the considerations must be:

Do they have a sense of humor?
Are they kind hearted?
Giving?
Rude?
Selfish?
Intelligent?
Hardworking?

You could potentially spend the rest of your life with this person, so at the very least, you must be able to get along with them.

Someone mentioned looks as an attraction factor. There are quite a few here that will tell you charm, wit, humor, confidence, and intellect are far greater attractive qualities than looks.

Time to move beyond the superficial

There's the catch when it comes to 'beauty'. Women know this more than men...

We have had beauty defined for us.
Here, I'll say it again for those in the back.
"Beauty" has been defined for us.

Thimk about it, What is called beautiful in Las Vegas, Mumbai, Madagascar, St Cloud, Kensington, Hsinchu City, etc, are all somewhat different. Society paints the picture and we pursue it in ourselves and look for it in others.

Google celebrities without makeup and watch the chase to look 'beautiful'.

When you've been indeep with someone for years you see their true beauty (or the reverse!).

Haven't you ever known that girl/guy that was hot as a supernova, only to find out they were a demon in disguise? hmmm

So, ... do looks matter? it all depends on how clear your vision is.

`Yes, looks matter! everyone has an idea of who they will associate themselves with. We have to be truthfull to our selves. Looks play an initial factor in our attraction, basically it will get you in the door, but personality and a loving spirit is what defines a person as a potential mate. Everyone has different perception on what they will accept from others, someone may have a personality that you don't like but for someone else that personality is heaven sent.

So looks matter, it is only a small part of the puzzle, but other factors comes into play as well.

`Why do we judge another on looks? One can look good and be the ugliest person on the inside. It seems to me that when we were young at heart we look to those things on the outside simply because we let society dictate. what a fine person look like ( you know like T.V., Commercial, The Movies, Singers, Friends etc. )but as we age we know more or should know more .and at that time when more wisdom had settle within we should see more then just the outside. We need too search for that inner spirit the true look of a person. So you see some might say looks matter just remember one day the outer looks will change don't get stuck with that ugly person who has no real beauty within.Save yourself a lot of time and search the spirit where real beauty is found.
